The French Minister for Health, Mrs. Marisol Touraine, has just published an article in The Lancet entitled “Tackling antimicrobial resistance in France”. The team at Da Volterra is proud that French officials are taking great strides in addressing this issue and thank them for their actions to bring antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to the forefront and making it a high priority on the global agenda.
We share the Minister’s view that “national initiatives are essential but not sufficient” when it comes to combat AMR. In fact, we pushed the very same idea earlier this year while creating the BEAM Alliance and signing the Industry Declaration at the Davos meeting (see here). We are also excited to read that industry is seen as part of the solution by the Minister and that a constructive dialogue is envisioned by the government to jointly build the antibiotic future we all deserve. This is a welcome commitment and we look forward to the opportunity, along with the French government and other national governments, to foster the dynamic and innovative environment that is needed to defeat antibiotic resistance in the long term.
Together, we are committed to the future of antibiotics.
