This year again the 9th edition of the WEF’s Global Risks 2014 report included Antibiotic Resistance among the top societal risks confronting the world. The new report highlights the risk of a loss of control over deadly diseases due to the growing resistance of deadly bacteria to known antibiotics.
Last year, in the Global Risks 2013 report, the chapter “The dangers of hubris to human health” described how antibiotic resistance endangers not only the health systems but also the social and economic systems.
Da Volterra hopes that this new highlight on the threat of Antibiotic Resistance will participate in raising awareness among world leaders and incite them to start framing the necessary policies to combat this major public health issue.
